A Newcastle United fan named Alan Carling has been left devastated after his dog, Rudy, ate his tickets for the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United. Carling’s disappointment had already started on the weekend when Newcastle lost to Liverpool, and goalkeeper Nick Pope was sent off, which meant that he would be suspended for the final. When Carling returned home, he found his dog ripping up the tickets that had been delivered while he was out.
Although Carling was understandably upset, he managed to find the humor in the situation and jokingly put his dog up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. In his post, he referred to Rudy as a “little b*stard of a pup” who thinks that letters through the post are an invasion of his home.
With Newcastle’s second-choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka cup-tied, it is expected that Loris Karius will make his first competitive appearance for an English club since Liverpool’s 2018 Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid. Despite being the third choice at Newcastle, manager Eddie Howe has faith in the German goalkeeper and believes he has the experience to perform well in big games.
