Adopted Pit Bull Overcomes Trauma and Finds a New Loving Home with a Furry Brother

It was just another day at the Greater Charlotte SPCA when Sarah Sleime, a regular volunteer, spotted a pit bull that caught her attention. The dog, named Cinnamon, sat slumped over in her kennel, looking sad and humanlike. Sleime approached her and saw that Cinnamon had recently given birth but was separated from her puppies. As she spoke to the pit bull, tears welled up in her eyes, and Sleime knew that Cinnamon was upset.

Cinnamon’s past was a mystery, but the shelter workers believed that she was used as a breeding machine and was recently surrendered by her owner. Her sadness and overweight condition were evidence of the trauma she had endured. Sleime knew that the Greater Charlotte SPCA couldn’t help Cinnamon because of her size, but she decided to make a video to bring attention to the dog’s situation.

The video went viral, and Meghan Shelton, a friend of Sleime, saw it and fell in love with Cinnamon. She went to the shelter to meet her and took her home the following day. Shelton renamed her Rosie and welcomed her to her family, which already had a three-year-old pit bull named Blu.

Rosie was nervous at first, but as soon as she met Blu, her tail started wagging, and she couldn’t stop giving him kisses. The two dogs got along famously, and Shelton knew that she had made the right decision. Rosie’s transformation was remarkable, and her new family gave her all the love and care that she deserved.

Conclusion

Rosie’s story is a reminder that there are many abandoned and mistreated dogs waiting for a loving home. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers like Sarah Sleime and the kindness of adoptive families like Meghan Shelton’s, dogs like Rosie can overcome their trauma and find happiness. Adopting a dog can be a life-changing experience for both the animal and the owner. If you’re considering getting a pet, consider adopting from a shelter and giving a dog like Rosie a chance to have a new lease on life.
