The End of an Era: Yellowstone to Conclude with Season 5

Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone” is coming to an end with its fifth and final season, set to air in November. But fans of the hit series can rest easy knowing that an untitled sequel series has been ordered and will premiere on Paramount Network in December, with later streaming on Paramount+.

Kevin Costner, who plays the lead character in “Yellowstone,” is rumored to be leaving the series due to his desire to focus on a new project called “Horizon,” a two-part Western feature. But Paramount is confident that the “Yellowstone” sequel series, created by Taylor Sheridan, will be just as successful as the original.

While details of the new show’s plot and casting remain under wraps, it has been reported that Matthew McConaughey is in talks to star in a new show that will feature several characters from “Yellowstone.”

According to Chris McCarthy, President and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, “‘Yellowstone’ has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits – from ‘1883’ to ‘Tulsa King,’ and I am confident our ‘Yellowstone’ sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life.”

David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, added, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”

“Yellowstone” has been a huge success, following the Dutton family and their sprawling cattle ranch in Montana. The show has proven to be one of the most popular shows on television, with the premiere of the first half of Season 5 pulling in a staggering 17 million viewers.

With the new sequel series, Paramount and Sheridan can bypass any potential issues with Costner and stream a new series featuring most of the original “Yellowstone” cast. “Yellowstone” currently streams on Peacock, but the sequel series will be available on Paramount+.

Sheridan has a massive overall deal with Paramount, under which he has launched the “Yellowstone” prequels “1883” and “1923,” as well as the shows “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Tulsa King.” He also has upcoming shows like “Lioness,” “Land Man,” and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” with several more in development.

In conclusion, the “Yellowstone” saga may be coming to an end, but fans can rest easy knowing that a new sequel series is in the works. With the success of the original show and the creative mind of Taylor Sheridan behind the new series, it’s sure to be a hit. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming “Yellowstone” sequel series.
