Will There Be a Fourth Season of Ted Lasso?

Fans of the popular Apple TV show Ted Lasso might be wondering if there will be a Season 4 or any spinoffs. When it debuted in 2020, Ted Lasso became a source of comfort for many viewers and quickly became a massive hit on the streaming platform. It received critical acclaim and earned 11 Emmy Awards throughout its run.

The series revolves around the eponymous American coach who travels to the UK to lead AFC Richmond, a football club managed by the vengeful ex-wife of its former owner. However, Ted wins everyone over with his optimistic and cheerful spirit, even as he confronts his own personal struggles.

As the Season 3 finale airs today, some fans are curious about the possibility of a Season 4. Here’s what we currently know.

Is There Going to Be a Ted Lasso Season 4?

Based on the available information, it appears unlikely that there will be a Season 4 of Ted Lasso. However, there may be spinoffs in the future.

The cast members of the show have indicated that the Season 3 finale concludes the main storyline. In an interview with Deadline, Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso, stated, “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.”

The show’s official Twitter account also hinted at the finality of the series, saying, “A few years ago I hopped on a plane with Coach Beard headin’ to a little town in London. Tonight we play our final match. It’s like what I say about the films of David Lynch. I can’t tell you what’s happenin’, but I sure as heck don’t want it to end.”

Nevertheless, Sudeikis added, “I think that we’ve set the table for all sorts of folks to get to watch the further telling of these stories. […] The fact that people want more, even if it’s a different avenue, is lovely.”

Brendan Hunt, who portrays Coach Beard and co-created the show, also expressed that there could be additional story arcs beyond Season 3. He mentioned that the original plan was to follow a three-part structure similar to The Office, consisting of six episodes and a special. While the series has expanded beyond that, it doesn’t necessarily mean that everything is coming to an end.

Is There a Release Date for Ted Lasso Season 4?

As of May 2023, there is no release date for Ted Lasso Season 4.

The lack of a release date can be attributed to the fact that the season has not been announced, and it might not happen at all. However, if there are any updates, we will provide them here.

Who Would Be in the Cast of Ted Lasso Season 4?

While this is speculative, if Ted Lasso Season 4 were to happen, we would expect the following cast members to return:

  • Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso
  • Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton
  • Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard
  • Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent
  • Juno Temple as Keeley Jones
  • Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins
  • Nick Mohammed as Nathan Shelley
  • Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt
  • Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya
  • Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas
  • Kola Bokinni as Isaac McAdoo
  • Billy Harris as Colin Hughes
  • James Lance as Trent Crimm
  • Andrea Anders as Michelle Lasso

There may be other actors reprising their roles as well, but until there is more concrete information from the show’s creators, everything remains speculative.

What Would the Plot of Ted Lasso Season 4 Be About? While there are no official details about the plot, if there were a Season 4, it would likely follow Richmond’s journey in the Champions League while Ted works on his relationship with Michelle in the United States.

Ted Lasso’s decision to stay in America, missing his son throughout Season 3, suggests that he might not return to the UK anytime soon. The season finale left room for potential storylines, such as Richmond forming a women’s team, Roy becoming the new team manager, and Nate returning to the club.

Brendan Hunt mentioned in an interview with Sky News that they viewed the series as a three-part story, with the end of Season 3 marking the conclusion of that particular narrative. However, he acknowledged that people’s reactions are unpredictable and that there could be numerous spinoff possibilities, including animated musicals.

Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate, expressed caution about spinoffs, emphasizing the success and gratitude surrounding Ted Lasso. He acknowledged the potential risks of not capturing the right tone but expressed openness to exploring what the future holds.
